Dr. Rahman is a clinician scientist at Memorial University in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada. He is a University Research Professor, Discipline of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Associate Dean for Cinical Research and a staff rheumatologist at Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He completed his medical school and internal medicine training at Memorial University and rheumatology fellowship at University of Toronto. His graduate training in genetic epidemiology was also done at University of Toronto. He joined the Faculty of Medicine in Memorial University in 1999.

Dr. Rahman is quite active in spondylitis genetics research, especially as it pertains to the genetics of psoriatic arthritis. He has published widely in this area and has made original contributions in the mode of inheritance of psoriatic arthritis as well as identification of novel genes for disease susceptibility and expression in psoriatic arthritis. More recently he has been investigating the genetic basis for copy number variations in various complex diseases including psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
