The topic of this year’s program is gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology. We will cover pathologic diagnosis of the most common entities in the tubal gut and hepatobiliary system with an emphasis on algorithmic approaches and avoiding common pitfalls. Both neoplastic and inflammatory conditions will be covered, as well as an update on current practices in ancillary molecular testing.

Amitabh Srivastava MBBS
Dr. Amitabh Srivastava is a surgical pathologist, with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract and the liver, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
At MSK, he consults on the diagnosis of dysplasia (precancerous cells) in patients with Barrett’s esophagus or inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), the interpretation of colon polyps suspected to be cancerous, and unusual polyps and polyposis syndromes. His research mainly centres on the study of colorectal and esophageal cancers and their precursors. His recent work has also described patterns of GI and liver toxicity in patients with cancer who are receiving immunotherapy as part of their treatment plan.
Dr. Srivastava is Past President of the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society. He is keenly interested in teaching and promoting the study of GI and liver pathology both nationally and internationally.
