international-programs3Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD), as part of the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, has a long-standing global reputation for innovation, leadership and excellence in continuing education and professional development for healthcare professionals – delivering Better Education for Better Outcomes™.  Leveraging our expertise in outcome-based continuous learning experiences and event management, CEPD has partnered with Mount Sinai Hospital’s Peter A. Silverman Centre for International Health (PASCIH) to create the International Continuing Health Education Collaborative (ICHEC), an initiative dedicated to meeting the increasing demand for global outreach activities.   Both organizations recognize the important role that we can play in enhancing the ability of health professional globally, and have mobilized together to establish ICHEC as a hub for facilitating innovative continuing education programs globally.

This unique international program is a reflection of both CEPD, University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine’s mission for improving health through innovative continuing education and related research for health professionals and the public, and PASCIH’s mission to expand the reach and impact of Canadian scientific and medical advances with the world in a way that benefits the greatest number of people.

Renowned Expertise Brought to the World

As a knowledge hub and centre of excellence for outcome-based continuous learning experiences for healthcare professionals, ICHEC is well-positioned to be an agent for improving access to high-quality, affordable healthcare internationally.  By sharing innovative education techniques and drawing upon research to accelerate knowledge transfer, we enable a more effective learning experience, which results in better knowledge transfer. This empowers healthcare professionals globally to make better decisions around the care and treatment of their patients - therefore driving improved health outcomes locally.  Coupled with the CEPD’s event management expertise, this enables efficient, effective execution of continuous learning programs in countries and organizations that would not otherwise be able to deliver and host.

Whether you are an international hospital, university, government, private and/or non-governmental organization, or a local University of Toronto department developing an international continuing health education program, you may be interested in leveraging the expertise and services of ICHEC as a facilitator of continuing health education.

Our Approach

ICHEC’s collaborative model leverages Mount Sinai Hospital, the University of Toronto, and its affiliated health sciences centres and community organizations in Toronto.

ICHEC brings together the best and brightest minds from the Toronto healthcare community, with our global collaborators from both the public and private sectors.  Together, we develop programs which focus on creating long-term, sustainable partnerships that not only impact the current healthcare training needs locally, but also cultivate leaders who can then become the providers of healthcare services in the future.
