Lorne Bellan

Dr. Bellan is a past president of Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) and former chair of the Wait Times Alliance. He is currently the coordinator for the Misericordia Health Centre Cataract Waiting List Program in Winnipeg. He was the chair of the COS committee that created the first Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for Cataract Surgery. He was a member of the Western Canada Waiting List Project for cataract surgery and the multinational PORT Cataract study which created the VF-14 cataract symptoms score. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012 for his advocacy work for Ophthalmology.
