Dr. Teresa Bennett

Dr. Teresa BennettDr. Teresa (Terry) Bennett is a psychiatrist with expertise in child and adolescent mental health, a core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies and assistant professor in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster.   She is a PhD candidate in McMaster’s Health Research Methodology Program (supervisor P. Szatmari), having graduated from the Arts and Science, Medicine and Psychiatry residency programs on the same McMaster student card.

Dr. Bennett recently completed a CIHR-funded fellowship investigating the interface between social cognitive neuroscience and the developmental epidemiology of autism spectrum disorders (ASD).   She is a co-investigator on the “Pathways Towards Better Outcomes in ASD” study – a national multi-site follow-up study of children with ASD.

Her clinical and research interests include neurodevelopmental pathways in ASD, as well as child social development and mental health more broadly – how children’s social brains and social worlds influence, and are influenced by, their mental health.
