Dr. Khrista Boylan

Khrista Boylan is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. She completed a PhD in Health Research Methodology in 2010. Her thesis investigated the course of oppositional defiant disorder in relation to internalizing disorders across childhood. Her program of research aims to improve our understanding of how oppositionality in its various forms may differentially be related to the development of depression or anxiety, and vice versa. Her most recent project measures the relationship between childhood disruptive behaviours to the presentation of cluster B symptomatology in adolescent girls. She hopes to develop more effective interventions for female adolescents presenting with behavioural disturbance and self harm.
